January

  • Launched the Datacated Weekly challenge – close to 300 posts
  • Started the Online Book Club – LinkedIn Group – over 1,500 members
  • Story by Data became a Community Partner with ODSC

February

  • Vacation to Dominican Republic
  • Joined the IADSS Advisory Board
  • First ultra-marathon (50k trail run) with my brother Steve
  • Saw STOMP with Peter
  • Went indoor sky-diving with Margarita
  • Started beta-testing LinkedIn Live – went live with JT Kostman, Debbie Berebichez, Ben Lorica

March

  • Climb to the Top NYC – 30 Rockefeller (66 flights) then ran 7.3 miles to run a 5K at Fort Washington
  • Took a survival skills class in the mountains to learn about tracking
  • Explored the catacombs by candlelight at the Basilica of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral with my mom & saw the show Shen Yun with my mom
  • Went indoor rock climbing
  • Flew an airplane – took a lesson with my brother Steve

April

  • Ran the Queens Half Marathon
  • Attended Reg Tech Data Conference from Data Coalition
  • Spartan Beast – 13+ miles with 30+ obstacles

May

  • Attended ODSC East – MC’d the key note sessions & held a book signing for The Disruptors: Data Science Leaders and Journey to Data Scientist
  • Spoke at my daughter’s Pre-K Career Fair event, about data visualization
  • Ran my first 50 mile run (all of it took place in Central Park) – started at 4am with Kurt
  • Visited One World Observatory Center with Margarita

June

  • Color Run (5K) with my mom
  • Spartan Sprint (3 mi + 15 obstacles)
  • Peter and I celebrated our 10 year marriage anniversary
  • Attended the AI Debate at NYU
  • Attended ODSC Immersive AI session in NY

July

  • Spartan Super (10 mi + 20 obstacles)
  • Earned the Spartan Trifecta
  • Ran 36.2 miles across 4 NYC boroughs (visiting 10 of the most popular NYC Parks)
  • Spoke at Demystifying Data Science (Metis) – Qualities of an Exceptional Data Science Team

Aug

  • Went to see Ain’t Too Proud to Beg – The Temptations with my mom
  • Facilitated a 2-day Python training for a bank
  • Ran the Manhattan perimeter – 35 miles (started at 5am)
  • Went kayaking on Delaware River (7 miles) with Peter
  • Achieved the 9+1 status for guaranteed entry to NYC Marathon in 2020
  • Incorporated Story by Data as a C corp!

Sept

  • Ran the Dirty Dozen (50k) run in Forest Park, NY
  • Started the Story by Data Freelancers Community
  • Taught a class (over 80 students) data visualization with Tableau (for a bank)
  • Ran 28 miles – The Warriors Ultra Run – that started at 1am in the Bronx (near a cemetery) all the way down to Coney Island beach; went for a swim right after
  • Attended O’Reilly Media Strata Data Conference
  • Visited the Statue of Liberty with Margarita
  • Identified 6 volunteers to help with Story by Data initiatives (Humans of Data Science, Datacated Weekly, etc.)

October

  • Re-deigned the Story by Data website
  • Joined my daughter’s School Leadership Team
  • Ran the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington D.C. with Steve and Kurt- it rained almost the whole time
  • Attended ODSC West (San Francisco)
  • Ran the Golden Gate Bridge

November

  • Went on a 2-day book retreat with Kristen to write the Mothers of Data Science book
  • Spoke at DATAx conference in NYC – Data Visualization with Tableau workshop  – with Peter as facilitator
  • Launched the We Run Marathons website – mission to run a marathon in each of the 50 states of America – with Steve and Kurt
  • Attended the Qlik Data Revolution Tour with Jordan – made some progress on the Data Literacy for Kids book
  • Submitted a video for taking part in American Ninja Warrior (ANW) Season 12

December

  • Ran the NYC Big Apple half marathon – with a 12 lb vest
  • Designed and published the 2020 DATAcated calendar
  • Signed up for Matt’s Business Science University – learning R
  • Was selected as LinkedIn’s Top Voice for Data Science & Analytics – for the second year in a row!
  • Attended the Future Festival in NYC from Tend Hunter
  • Published 20 Data Trends for 2020 article on Story by Data
  • Completed the 1,000 miles running challenge for 2019; the last 100 miles involved carrying a 12 lb weighted vest on my back
